Saving Energy with LED High Bays

Lighting is often one of the biggest energy consumers in warehouses, production halls and other commercial spaces. Especially when old fluorescent or HID fixtures are still in use, energy consumption quickly rises. LED High Bays offer a sustainable solution that can save up to 70% energy compared to traditional lighting. In this article, you will discover how a few smart applications can help you get even more out of your investment — without sacrificing light quality or comfort.

Combine your LED High Bay with a motion sensor

Every second a lamp is not burning, you save energy. A motion sensor ensures that LED High Bays only switch on when someone is actually present. This prevents unnecessary burning hours, especially in zones with little activity.

Practical example: in many warehouses, products that are needed less frequently are stored in the back. By installing LED High Bays with motion sensors in those areas, the lighting only switches on when someone walks there. This results in additional savings on the energy bill.

The investment in a motion sensor usually pays for itself within 6 to 12 months, depending on operating hours and energy prices. A smart way to further optimize warehouse lighting.

Tip: Combine this with a remote control to easily adjust the settings.

Connect your LED High Bays to a dimmer

Not every area requires the same light intensity at all times. With an LED dimmer, you can easily determine how much light you need — and thus how much energy you consume.

For example, use a 0–10V, 1–10V LED dimmer or DALI system to automatically adjust light levels per zone. Think of work areas that need bright lighting during the day and storage zones where less light is sufficient. By linking different groups, you can control everything per section.

A properly configured dimmer can deliver an additional 10 to 20% energy savings, while maintaining employee comfort.

Use a Wattage Switch

The latest generation of LED High Bays is equipped with a Wattage Switch. This is a smart switch that allows you to set the wattage (and therefore the light level) yourself.

For example, do you have a lower mounting height or reflective walls? Then it is not necessary to use the maximum wattage. By hanging the High Bay lower using a steel chain, you can reduce the light output and decrease the wattage. This immediately reduces your energy consumption without compromising light quality.

A Wattage Switch provides maximum flexibility and makes it easier to adjust your industrial lighting to the specific situation.
