Replace fluorescent tube with LED tube

Replacing Fluorescent Tube with LED Fluorescent Tube

If you want to replace your traditional fluorescent tube fixture with a modern and energy-efficient LED tube, is it possible? Absolutely! It's very easy to replace your traditional fluorescent lighting with an LED tube.

There are three options for doing this. You could replace your fluorescent tube 1-to-1 with an LED tube, make a small adjustment to your fluorescent fixture, or purchase a completely new fixture. It all depends on the type of fluorescent fixture you currently have and what your preferences are.

Conventional Fluorescent Tube (With Starters)

This is the easiest and most common fluorescent tube to replace.

  • Turn off the power to ensure safety while working.

  • Remove the old fluorescent tube(s) and starter(s).

  • Install the new starter(s) and of course, the LED fluorescent tube.

  • Turn the power back on and immediately enjoy the benefits of your new LED fluorescent lighting.

An LED fluorescent tube always comes with a starter, so you can usually install it right away.

High-Frequency Fluorescent Tube (Without Starters)

This option is much less common, and it's more likely that you have a conventional fluorescent tube. While high-frequency fluorescent tubes are newer than conventional fluorescent tubes, they are less widespread. You can identify a high-frequency fluorescent tube by the fixture without starters. If you do have a high-frequency fixture, the solution is a bit less straightforward than with a conventional fluorescent tube, but it is still possible. You will need to disconnect the electronic ballast (VSA). A VSA or ballast regulates the amount of current flowing through a fluorescent tube.

  • Turn off the power to safely replace the fluorescent tube.

  • Remove your old high-frequency fluorescent tube from the fixture.

  • Disconnect the electronic ballast.

  • Move the live and neutral wires to one terminal.

  • Install the LED fluorescent tube (with the power terminal on the power supply side).

  • Turn the power back on.

In this case, you don't need starters, but you will need to make an adjustment to your fixture.

Purchasing a New LED Fluorescent Fixture

By purchasing a new LED fluorescent fixture, you can be sure you're getting the right LED tube.

An LED fluorescent fixture comes complete and is ready to be connected to the electrical network, providing the same amount of light or more, in an energy-efficient way, as a traditional fluorescent fixture.

LED fluorescent fixtures come in various sizes. Lightexpert.nl offers LED fluorescent tubes ranging from 30cm to 150cm. We have the perfect LED fluorescent tube for everyone.
