Replace fluorescent tubes with LED tubes

Replacing Fluorescent Tubes with LED Fluorescent Tubes

If you want to replace your traditional fluorescent tube fixture with a modern, energy-efficient LED tube, can you do that? Absolutely, it’s very easy to replace your traditional fluorescent lighting with an LED fluorescent lamp.

There are three options for this. You can replace your fluorescent lamp 1-for-1 with an LED tube, make a small adjustment to your fluorescent fixture, or buy a completely new fixture. This depends on the type of fluorescent fixture you currently have and your needs.

Conventional Fluorescent Tube (With Starters)

This is the easiest and most common fluorescent tube to replace.

  1. Turn off the power to work safely.

  2. Remove the old fluorescent tube(s) and the old starter(s).

  3. Install the new provided starter(s) and, of course, the LED fluorescent tube.

  4. Turn the power back on and immediately enjoy the benefits of your new LED fluorescent lighting.

An LED fluorescent lamp always comes complete with a starter, so you can usually install them right away.

High-Frequency Fluorescent Tube (Without Starters)

This setup is less common, and it’s more likely that you have a conventional fluorescent tube. Although high-frequency fluorescent tubes are newer than conventional ones, they are still less common. You can recognize a high-frequency fluorescent tube by the fixture without starters. If you do have a high-frequency fluorescent fixture, the solution is a little less straightforward than with a conventional fluorescent tube, but it’s still possible. You’ll need to disconnect the electronic ballast. A ballast regulates the amount of current passing through the fluorescent tube.

  1. Turn off the power to safely replace your fluorescent tube.

  2. Remove your old high-frequency fluorescent tube from the fixture.

  3. Disconnect the electronic ballast.

  4. Move the live (phase) and neutral wires to one terminal.

  5. Install the LED fluorescent tube (with the power terminal on the current side).

  6. Turn the power back on.

This way, you won’t need starters, but you will need to make adjustments to your fixture.

Buy a New LED Fluorescent Fixture

This way, you can be sure you’re buying the right LED fluorescent tube.

An LED fluorescent fixture comes complete and is ready to connect to the power grid, providing the same or more light than a traditional fluorescent fixture, in an energy-efficient manner.

LED fluorescent fixtures come in various sizes. Lightexpert offers LED fluorescent tubes from 30 cm to 150 cm. So, we have the perfect LED fluorescent lamp for everyone.
